Cashbuild is seeking a dedicated General Assistant to deliver exceptional customer service, manage stock merchandising, maintain accurate shelf labeling, and uphold high standards of housekeeping. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic retail environment and contribute to a safe, organized, and customer-focused store.
Requirements
- Grade 10 (NQF 3) with 1 year of work experience or Grade 12 without prior experience.
- Proficiency in English and the dominant local language of the store’s region.
- Valid South African ID or work permit.
- Basic numeracy skills for accurate calculations.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Ability to perform efficiently under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Advise customers on product selection and resolve queries promptly.
- Address and escalate customer complaints to ensure satisfaction.
Merchandising Standards
- Stock and arrange products in alignment with store layout plans and safety guidelines.
- Maintain planogram compliance within assigned areas.
Housekeeping
- Keep aisles clear, merchandise stock promptly, and ensure a safe shopping environment.
- Verify shelf price labels for accuracy and complete cleaning checklists (e.g., canteen, restrooms).
Safety Compliance (OHSA)
- Adhere to safety protocols, including proper use of protective equipment.
- Ensure stock placement minimizes risks to customers and staff.
- Report safety concerns or damaged stock to the Store Manager.
Stock Loss Management
- Identify and report damaged stock to prevent inventory shrinkage.
